Dança em Diálogos

Dance Academy

Portugal

Founded in January 2018 under the Artistic Direction of Solange Melo and Fernando Duarte, Dança em Diálogos’ mission is to contribute to the diversity in the creation and presentation of dance shows throughout the national territory.

Inserted in an environment that seeks to respond to the challenges of contemporary art, it develops a platform of choreographic creation that seeks a deep articulation between dance and other artistic and knowledge areas, as well as between the multiple languages that compose it.

Since its foundation, Dd has presented five full evening creations, such as : Murmúrios de Pedro e Inês (2018), winner of the Anna Mascolo Dance Award 2018, Tudo Quanto Vi – a choreographic poem for Sophia (2019), O Primo Basílio (2020) , Não Canteis a Valsa, Três Cadernos em Dueto (2021) and Memorial do Convento (2022), inserted in a decentralizing and comprehensive dynamic of audiences and contexts of performance.

It also has a wide intercontinental international circulation, having performed in the USA (New York and Miami), in Africa (Cape Verde, S. Tomé e Príncipe, Luanda and Maputo), in Brazil (Niterói, Rio de Janeiro) and in Macau and East Timor, with the support of the Arte Institute in New York. In Europe, it presented shows in France (Paris and Nantes), Hungary (Budapest) and Spain (Lanzarote). With North American company Dance NOW! Miami, created the ballet ANUSIM, its first international co-production.

Jointly with choreographic creation, it promotes the Dance em Diálogos – Educational and Artistic Program, a program that is directed to bringing dance and the arts close to different communities, highlight the role of artistic education in the development of critical thinking and the development of common grounds. Also noteworthy is Radio(grafias) Iguais, a social and artistic intervention project developed in partnership with the Agrupamento Almeida Garrett, supported by the PARTIS & Art for Change program of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the ‘La Caixa’ Foundation.
