Shilá Quadros Fernandes

Born in 1967, Shilá Fernandes began her dance studies with Helena Coelho in Luanda. In 1992, she obtained her dance degree in Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. After graduating, Fernandes started working in production for Companhia de Dança de Almada and Re.Al Companhia João Fiadeiro.

For Lisboa Capital Europeia da Cultura 1994, Fernandes produced the project Skite in Centro Cultural de Belém, Teatro da Trindade, Cinearte, Teatro da Malaposta, and Museu da Eletricidade, amongst others. She has also worked as a press officer for Inatel. In Bienal Jovens Criadores da Europa do Sul e do Mediterrâneo, an event that gathered 800 creators in Lisbon and was organised by Clube Português das Artes e Ideias, Fernandes worked for the Direction in the management of it’s budget. In 1995 and after its reconstruction, Fernandes produced the first month of Teatro Taborda, in Lisbon along with André Gago.

In 1998, Fernandes was invited to teach Dance Production in Faculdade de Motricidade Humana and produced the first Conferencier Mundial de Dança – Continentes em Movimento. She also produced the events for Reitoria da Universidade Técnica for the celebration of the 75th anniversary in Culturgest.

For the World Exposition 1998, Fernandes produced Toca a Rufar with Rui Júnior and João Brites in Praça Sony and Nas Margens (fashion show), with Isabel Peres Gomes and Simonetta Luz Afonso in Palácio Pancas Palha.

Further career highlights are her work as a producer in Festivais Internacionais de Jazz de Tomar and Portalegre Jazzfest, Europe Day 2004 commemorations in Tomar – EuroJazz 2004, and from 2012 to 2016 the programming and production of cultural events in Castelo de São Jorge.

Fernandes completed postgraduate studies in Coaching with the International School of Professional Coaching in 2015. Since March 2020, Fernandes and André Gago have been coordinating the project TEIA19.
